University of Management and Economics held the first meeting of the Board for academic year 2009 on 5 August 2008. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Tep Khunnal, Chairman of the Board of Director, and attended by external members H.E Buth Kimsean, Honorary Chairman and University Advisor, and Mr. Veung Mony, Personal Advisor to Battambang Governor, Mr. Puth Chamroeun, Project Manager of Trauma Care Foundation. The internal members including Mr. Tun Pheakdey, UME President, Mr. King Chanroeun, vice-president for academic, Mr. In Sounsovan, vice-president for administration and Mr. Chhay Theng, vice-president for foundation program and some other internal member were also present.

The meeting was about the budget planning for next academic year and adding two new fields, Banking ad Community Development Managment to school of managment.

UME President, Tun Pheakdey was invited to make presentations on UME's budget plan which will be the operation of next year, academic program restructuring, and a proposal for a new venture management program. The meeting was not yet completely finished on the same day, will be holding again next month.
