University of Management and Economics organized a large number of students to join the program of one-village-one-product promotion (OVOP) which is conducted by Excellency Son Koun Thor, secrtary general to OVOP National committee together with Excellency Keart Raksmey and other colleagues on 18 June 2010 at UME Battambang. Joining this promotion, honored guest, Mr. Peang Narith on behalf of Battambang governor, Mr. Tep Kunnal, chief of Malai district and other internal guests, lecturers, staff and students. Totally, over three hundred participants joint the promotion.

UME President, Tun Pheakdey red welcome message and expressed sincere thanks to the presidency, honored guests, lecturers and students for their participation in this program. At the same time, Mr. Pheakdey gave a progress report of UME in developing human resources in Battambang province.

Excellency, Son Koun Thor made a presentation of OVOP movement to the guests.

The One Village One Product National Committee of the Kingdom of Cambodia (OVOP) was eastablished by Royal Decree dated January 27, 2006 and Sub Decree dated June 26, 2006. The OVOP National Committee has the following composition:

  1. Samdech Hun Sen    Chairman
  2. Excellency Sok An    Vice Chairman
  3. Excellency Son Koun Thor Secretary General

The objectives of OVOP is to promote local products and services, with an aim to increase income of the poor through expanding employment opportunites - to increase the value added to local products by processing, improve quality and packaging - to promote market linkages between products and services at village level for domestic and export markets.

The OVOP promotion was finished on the same day at 5:00 PM.
